Rajasthan writes again in DGP case

BHUBANESWAR: Orissa Government on Monday said it had received a reminder from Rajasthan Government pertaining to attaching property of its Director General of Police (Fire Service) Bidya Bhushan Mohanti.

Mr. Mohanti was accused to evading police arrest in connection with his son Bitihotra Mohanti’s jumping of parole from a Rajasthan jail.

Bitihotra was convicted for allegedly raping a German scholar. This was an unusual matter as the reminder told about attaching property of DGP rank officer, Orissa Home Secretary Tarun Kanti Mishra told mediapersons here on Monday.

"We had consulted the law department in this connection. But the Law department advised us to consult with Advocate General of Orissa, which we have done," Mr. Mishra said.

A couple of months ago, a team of Rajasthan police had come to take DGP Mohanti with them but the latter went on leave on medical ground. The Rajasthan police had to return empty hand.

This was second letter from the Rajasthan government in connection with attaching property of DGP Mohanti.
