NEW DELHI: The much-awaited High Capacity Bus System would get delayed by four months, primarily on account of a six-month delay in shifting of the Delhi Jal Board pipelines along the 14.5 km project route from Ambedkar Nagar to Delhi Gate. Delay of 4 months
The progress of the project was reviewed by the Delhi Cabinet on Monday. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit later announced that the project would not cost Rs.215.19 crore. She said there would be a delay of four months in commissioning of this project as shifting of the Delhi Jal Board pipelines along the route would take more than six months to complete. Also, as the Government has decided to shift over from concrete pavement to bituminous pavement beyond the Chiragh Dilli flyover, the project would experience a time overrun. Concrete pavements
The meeting was informed that construction of concrete pavements for the bus lanes and also partly for the motor vehicle lanes in keeping with the approved specification has been completed up to Chiragh Dilli. It was in February this year that the Delhi Government had decided to use concrete instead of bitumen for the 5.9 km corridor connecting Ambedkar Nagar Depot with Moolchand. The original tenders for the project were subsequently scrapped by the Government.
