Rupee eases further

MUMBAI: The rupee on Monday eased further to close at 40.5450/5550 against the U.S. currency following fresh month-end dollar demand from banks.

In quiet trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian currency resumed sharply lower at 40.58/60 against Friday’s close of 40.51/53 but later recovered partly to close at 40.5450/5550 after moving in a range of 40.43 and 40.62. — PTI
