Motivating: A student responding to a query at the session in Tiruchi on Monday.
TIRUCHI: The next time your class topper vie with you for the post of school president, don’t get bogged down by his academic performance. You would as well have a fair chance, if you develop the qualities of a responsible leader. The class XI students of St. Little Flower Matriculation School learnt more about responsibility at the Hindu’s Newspaper in Education session on behavioural skills held recently. Handling the second module of the theme, three resource persons, Booma Venkatesan, Radha Rajkumar and B. Kavitha, began the session with a question on responsibility. Not surprisingly the answers ended with meek mumbles. But their next strategy worked well. “Who do you think are the most responsible and irresponsible characters in telly soaps?” they asked. Their voices were drowned by the deafening responses from the students. After voicing out an exhaustive list of their most and least favourite characters, the students substantiated their selection with a host of reasons, from helping the needy to accepting the duty with a smile. “These are the qualities expected from a responsible student,” the resource persons concluded. The successive modules will be on empathy, self-esteem, goal-setting, assertiveness and expressing emotions.
