Two held for assault on SI

VILLUPURAM: Two persons were arrested on charges of assaulting sub-inspector Pattusamy, attached to the Mayilam police station, on Tuesday.

The police said when a group of persons was playing cards, Annalakshmi, belonging to the same area, reprimanded them. Therefore, they turned their ire on her and chased her. She approached the police station seeking to protect her.

Meanwhile, the group that was following her picked a quarrel among themselves.

When the SI intervened, he was heckled and jostled by them.
