Vignan Jyothi EC posts win

HYDERABAD: VNR Vignan Jyothi Engineering College recorded a 33-run win over Arora Science & Technology College in the fourth Bandari Srinivas inter-engineering colleges cricket tournament at Chevella, near here, on Tuesday.

The scores: VNR Vignan Jyothi 123 for two (Achut 42 not out) bt Arora Science & Technology 90 for five.

St. Mary’s EC 77 for seven (Srikanth three for 11) lost to JBR EC 78 for three (Ramprasad 40 not out).
St. Pious triumphs

St. Pious Girls High School scored a 27-10 win over Chirec School in the final of the fifth Dr. Emily Emanuel inter-school basketball tournament here.

In the boys’ section, Chirec Public School won 27-11 over Gitanjali School.

Suraj of Gitanjali in the boys’ section and Uttara of Chirec in the girls’ section were named best players of the finals.

The results: Finals: Boys: Chirec School 27 (Arya 14) bt Gitanjali School 11.

Girls: St. Pious High School 27 (Alekhya 10) bt Chirec School 10.
Women’s selections

The District Sports Authority of Hyderabad will organise trials on August 6 and 7 to select the women’s team for the 33rd National Sports Festival for women.
