Team visits houses of patients

Implementation of DOTs appreciated




Well done: Cornellia, daughter of AMG India International Chief Donor Deichmann, appreciating the services of a nurse at AMG TB Centre in Chilakaluripet in Guntur district on Tuesday.

GUNTUR: A team of tuberculosis specialists including a consultant of World Health Organisation on Tuesday visited the 10 special centres being run by the AMG India International in seven mandals of Guntur district.

After visit of some of the microscopic centres for treatment and houses of the TB patients being supported by the AMG by doctors Santosh (WHO consultant), Sarat Kumar from East Godavari and Ankamma Rao of KMC Hospital Chest Department, they appreciated the way the DOTs programme was being implemented.

Daughter of AMG International’s Chief Patron Deichmann Cornelia Deichmann’s, a doctor herself, donated provisions comprising 10 kg of rice, 2 kg of red gram, soaps, and other essential items to 800 patients living there.

The AMG India Chilakaluripet director Arun Kumar Mohanty said that it was supporting such a programme for 1,000 HIV positive persons in Guntur and Chilakaluripet region and providing study material and books to 1,000 children of HIV positive people. Fulfilling the vision of S. Johndavid, the AMG had been taking up these programmes since 2004.

For three decades the AMG India had been carrying on several programme in the costal Andhra Pradesh and shouldering social responsibility of alleviating the poor and helping people in case of natural disaster, Dr. Cornelia Deichmann said.
