Batala: The skeleton of a girl, who was allegedly murdered by her parents in March for marrying against their wishes, was found in a village in the district on Tuesday. A case has been registered against the girl Harjit Kaur’s father Mangal Singh, mother Kashmir Kaur and aunt Gurmeet Kaur. Police have arrested Mangal Singh and Gurmeet Kaur while Kashmir Kaur is absconding. According to police, Ajit Singh, a resident of Dhupsari village, fell in love with his relative Harjit Kaur. The duo subsequently eloped and their marriage was held in a gurudwara in March. After hearing the news, Harjit’s parents brought their daughter back from her husband’s home on the promise that the marriage would be held according to Sikh rituals on March 21. However, her father, mother and aunt strangulated her and buried her body on the banks of a canal at Pherochichi village on March 24.
