Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: V.G. Divakaran, Regional PF Commissioner-I, Kerala, said here on Tuesday that computerisation and networking of all offices of the Employees’ PF Organisation (EPFO) was in the final stage. Under the new set up, all PF subscribers would have a new employee number (Social Security Number) in place of the existing PF account number and this number would become mandatory to make any transaction with the EPF once the new system was put in place. The target date for completion of this work was scheduled for the end of the year. The PF subscribers who had not applied so far for allotment of SSN should do so through the employer in the prescribed form, which was available at the EPF Office. In future, the application for settlement of claims/ withdrawals etc. would be received only from subscribers who had either been allotted a SSN or had applied for it. Under the system, all establishments would be allotted a Business Number (BN), which would be compulsory for submitting returns.
