BANGALORE: Justice A.N. Venugopal Gowda on Tuesday quashed the selection of B.C. Mylarappa as Professor of Sociology in Bangalore University saying he did not possess required qualification. He said the selection was illegal and the university had “mechanically” appointed him as professor. He directed Dr. Mylarappa and the university to pay Rs. 1,250 as advocates’ fee. Allowing petitions by Venkatasubba and C. Somashekar, the court asked the varsity to fill the vacancy in three months. – Staff Correspondent
