JAIPUR: In a move aimed at providing financial security to labourers, the Rajasthan Government on Tuesday fixed minimum wages for domestic helpers and set down the categories of work for which they could claim remuneration. State Labour Commissioner Surajmal Meena said here that the State Government, while exercising powers under Section 27 of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, had included domestic helpers in the schedule for fixing wages. Mr. Meena said the monthly wages for work such as washing utensils, washing clothes, cleaning the house and mopping the floor for one hour everyday would be Rs. 264 each.
