`The duo demanded Rs.15,000 to release sand-laden lorry on July 28.’
NALGONDA: The new mandal revenue officer J.Krishna Reddy and revenue inspector P.Yadaiah were trapped by a team of Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths at their office here on Monday. Simultaneous raids on their houses are going on till the reports came in last. According to an ACB inspector, the revenue inspector accepted Rs.5,000 from a lorry owner at the behest of the MRO. “We caught him red-handed while he was accepting the bribe,” he maintained. A ten-member team led by four inspectors took part in the operation. The complainant Dayakar of Autonagar in Hyderabad told The Hindu that the duo took Rs.15,000 from him to release his sand-laden lorry on July 28 morning. They allegedly stopped the lorry in the same evening and demanded Rs.10,000. “The RI Yadaiah called me up many times and asked me to come to the MRO office in Nalgonda to settle my account,” Mr.Dayakar said. The MRO Krishna Reddy had joined the duty in Nalgonda only five days ago. Even as a team was interrogating the two officials at their office, another team of slueths raided their houses in the town.
