KARUR: Several parts of Karur district experienced moderate showers in the afternoon and evening on Tuesday even as the sky remained overcast throughout the day.

Karur, Velayuthampalayam, Kulithalai, Krishnarayapuram, parts of Aravakurichi, Thogamalai and K. Paramathi areas received widespread rain.

Pudukottai and surrounding areas experienced moderate to sharp showers. Power supply was disrupted intermittently. K. Mayazhagu (38) was struck dead by lightning at Ramnagar near Kotaipattinam on Monday night.
