Woman dies of burns

DAVANGERE: A woman died of burns here on Tuesday in case of dowry death.

The police said the victim, Latha (24), had married Basavaraj, son of a retired police constable, a few years ago. Latha’s father had given Rs. 2 lakh cash, 150 gm of jewellery and other valuables at the time of marriage. The police said Basavarajappa and his parents used to torture Latha to bring more money. On June 16, she had been admitted to the Chigateri general hospital with 70 per cent burns.
