College starts PG course in Analytical Chemistry

A hostel for women built at a cost of Rs. 1.38 crore

DAVANGERE: The UBDT Engineering College will start a postgraduate course in Analytical Chemistry from this year.

Kuvempu University Vice-Chancellor Sherigar said that because of considerable demand, the new PG course had been introduced in the UBDT College.

The UBDT College, which was given World Bank assistance of Rs. 9 crore under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme, had spent over Rs. 1.72 crore for developing computer laboratory and to start Computer Faculty branch.

Hostel facilities

A women’s hostel was being built at a cost of Rs. 1.38 crore and an old hostel for men was being renovated at a cost of Rs. 15 lakh. Similarly, the college was spending the remaining amount for infrastructure development in the college.

Clean chit

A committee under the chairmanship of the former Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University N.R. Shetty was formed and instituted to investigate some allegations against the use of the World Bank funds.

The committee reportedly gave a clean chit to the college. The committee has reportedly awarded five marks to the college in regard to the proper and efficient use of the World Bank funds.
