Compensation granted

TIRUNELVELI: The District Additional Sessions Court here has awarded Rs. 30 lakh as compensation to the family of an accident victim. According to the prosecution, Ravindran (44), a faculty member of St. John’s College, Palayamkottai, was killed in an accident after a bus hit his vehicle on May 22, 2006. Seeking a compensation of Rs. 60 lakh, the victim’s wife R. Matilda Mary, and children Vijaykumar (24) and Esther Christilda, (18) filed a case. The District Additional Sessions Judge, Seshasayee, on Monday, ordered the insurance firm to give a compensation of Rs. 30.61 lakh.
