Minister distributes notebooks

Kakinada: Minister for Social Welfare Pilli Subhas Chandra Bose has advised students to develop competitive spirit so that they can reach new heights. Participating as chief guest at a function held at the Municipal Girls High School in the Salipet area here on Tuesday, he said one should have an aim in life and strive for achieving it in a systematic manner. Pointing out that great people like B.R. Ambedkar, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Manmohan Singh studied only in government schools, the Minister called upon the students to emulate them. He complimented Somu Prasad, chairman of a charitable trust, for providing notebooks to students free of cost every year.

ZP chairman Ch.S. Venugopala Krishna said that lack of education would lead to backwardness. If girls were educated, the entire family would flourish, he said, adding that all ZP high schools in the district were being given a facelift. He said that toilets and drinking water facility were provided in all schools and hostels. N. Sesha Reddy, MLC, advised the students to emulate Mutyala Raju, a poor student who topped the IAS by sheer dedication and hard work.

Special classes

District Educational Officer P. Parvati said that experienced teachers were now available in all government schools and it was up to students and parents to utilise their services. Social Welfare Deputy Director Prabhakar and school headmistress N. Venkata Lakshmi also spoke. Later, the Minister and the ZP chairman distributed notebooks to the students.
