Drugs Inspector arrested

BERHAMPUR: Suspended Drugs Inspector for Bolangir and Sonepur districts, T. Basudev Rao was arrested by state Crime Branch from his residence in the city on at late night on Monday for his alleged links with fake drugs manufacturers.

Vigilance department sleuths raided the houses of Rao, his relatives and business establishments related to him. The raids started in the early morning on Tuesday and are still continuing. He was arrested for his alleged links with the fake drugs manufacturing racket unearthed at Kantbanjhi in Bolangir district. After the unearthing of the racket the State Government had suspended him from his post last week. On Monday night a team of crime branch sleuths along with police teams from Bolangir and Berhampur raided his house at Premnagar area to arrest him.

He was taken to Bolangir. After reaching there the Crime branch sleuths made initial interrogation and took him to fake drugs manufacturing unit unearthed at Kantabanjhi for investigation.

Meanwhile, vigilance raids were continuing at various places. The targets were the houses of Rao, his father-in-law and brother, three medical wholesale units allegedly run by the arrested drugs inspector at Kaspa Street area.
