ELURU: The West Godavari District Consumer Redressal Forum on Tuesday directed the Superintending Engineer, Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited, to pay Rs. 3,000 towards compensation to a nonagenarian woman for disconnection of her service connection for no fault of hers. The-94-year old Kommana Satyavatamma of Vatluru on the city outskirts reportedly slogged in darkness for more than two weeks in her house following disconnection of power supply by the Transco personnel on the ground that her son failed to clear the dues. However, they restored the connection in a bid to correct their folly after finding that her son, Nageswara Rao, a rice mill owner, was not a defaulter. K. Satyanand, president of the forum, directed the EPDCL Superintending Engineer to pay her the compensation along with 3 per cent interest from the date of judgment and Rs. 500 towards legal expenses.
