Chief Minister hits out at his political detractors Health varsity to have all infrastructure
BANGALORE: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Tuesday hit out at his political detractors for alleging that he was reducing farmers of his Ramanagaram constituency to penury by acquiring their land for development projects. “I will contest the next Assembly elections from Ramanagaram. At that time, the people of Ramanagaram will decide if I have helped them or cheated them. That election is going to be an acid test and will answer such allegations,” the Chief Minister told the Legislative Council while intervening in a discussion on a Bill seeking to shift the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences from Bangalore to Ramanagaram. He asserted that there was no mala fide interest behind the plans to shift the university. He wanted to ensure that the university got all the infrastructure that it required, he said. Good infrastructure
Locating the university in Ramangaram would help not just the people of that town but also the entire State as the university would get good infrastructure facilities, he said. He pointed out that the university was yet to get its own building though it was set up 10 years ago. Replying to V.R. Sudarshan (Congress) who drew his attention to the report of a Congress fact-finding committee that had argued against shifting the university, Mr. Kumaraswamy said he was grateful to the committee for highlighting the problems of the people of his constituency. Bill adopted
The Council adopted the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (Amendment) Bill, 2007, which seeks to shift the university to Ramanagaram to reduce the pressure on Bangalore city and to develop Ramanagaram as an alternative to Bangalore.
