Ex-brigadier convicted

NEW DELHI: A court here on Tuesday sentenced a former Army brigadier to two years’ rigorous imprisonment after convicting him in an Official Secrets Act case registered 19 years ago. Special Judge Vinod Goel also slapped a fine of Rs. 25,000 on 73-year-old Brigadier (Retd.) Rajpal Singh Deol. According to the prosecution, the brigadier, while functioning as military attaché at the Indian Embassy in Paris from 1982 to 1988, was in possession of secret official documents relating to briefs for defence delegations to France and other countries.
