CHENNAI: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence authorities arrested two persons from Hyderabad on Monday on charges of non-payment of Customs duty.
A release from the DRI said on specific information that some units were importing copper rods/scrap under Target Plus Scheme for manufacturing and exporting products, which could be done without paying duty.
During a search, one of the units was found to have diverted the material without utilising and defrauded the Government. The DRI officials at Hyderabad conducted searches in Hyderabad, New Delhi and Chennai.
