Centre’s fiscal deficit soars

NEW DELHI: The Centre’s fiscal deficit has jumped to Rs. 1,12,404 crore till June 30, or 74.5 per cent of the budget estimate for 2007-08, as it paid Rs. 35,531 crore to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for buying its stake in State Bank of India, according to the statement of the Controller General of Accounts.
