Somdev qualifies

NEW DELHI: Somdev Dev Varman defeated second-seeded Andre Sa of Brazil 6-2, 6-1 in the second and final qualifying round of the Legg Mason Classic tennis tournament at Washington DC. He will face the 101st ranked Paul Godstein of the U.S. in the first round of the main draw.

Meanwhile, the pair of India’s Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan recorded a 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 victory over James Cerretani of the U.S. and Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic in the first round of the Challenger tournament at Segovia, Spain.
