Anirban Lahiri in sole lead

NOIDA: Anirban Lahiri fired an opening round of three-under 69 to take the sole lead after the first round in the LG Jaypee Open amateur golf championship at the Jaypee Greens Golf Resort here on Tuesday.

Near perfect round

Lahiri, fresh from his triumph at the PGTI Tour Qualifying School, had a near-perfect round as he erred just once. On the 15th hole, Lahiri three-putted from 20 feet to bogey.

Lahiri picked birdies on the sixth, seventh and ninth holes to take the turn at three under. On his return, Lahiri birdied the 10th and found 17 greens in regulation.

Jha tied third

Abhishek Jha is second at 72, while the duo of H.S. Kang and S.K. Lakra were tied for the third place at 73.
