CHENNAI: The MCC-S.A. Faheem Memorial invitation snooker tournament will be held at the Madras Cricket Club premises between August 1 and 7. Announcing this at a press conference at the MCC on Monday, the club’s snooker captain M.C. Manoj said that the tournament would feature some of the State’s best players, including Rafath Habib, S.A. Saleem (Faheem’s brother) and Siddharth Rao. “S.A. Faheem, who passed away last year on July 4, was one of our most talented players,” Manoj said. “We will make this an annual event, such that either the start or finish will coincide to mark Faheem’s anniversary.” Round-robin league
The round-robin league will be a best of five frames affair. The tournament winner will receive Rs. 10,000 in prize money. Rather unusually, the first century break during the tournament will also earn Rs. 10,000, with every subsequent century break being awarded Rs. 5,000.
