CHENNAI: Former International Syed Sabir Pasha and Kolkata’s Mridul Banerjee have been made coaches for the final phase of the India Under-19 football camp in Goa. The final phase has only 25 players, and they will be under the overall charge of Technical Director Colm Toal, who is instrumental in selecting Pasha and Banerjee to assist him. The Indian team is being prepared for the 2008 edition of the Junior Asia Cup competition. These selections — both coaches and players — were made from the preliminary camps held at two or three places in the country. Pasha said: “our passport details have been sought, and we should be travelling with the Indian team when it is selected in due course.” While Pasha is elated on the prospects of doing duty for the country again in a new capacity what concerns him is the ‘leave rules’ of the Indian Bank, where he works as an Assistant Manager. “As a player leave is not a problem but as an official the Bank’s provision is for only one-month leave.” — Special Correspondent
