16 village panchayats chosen for implementing job guarantee scheme

Efforts will be taken to showcase them as role models, says Collector
KARUR: Sixteen village panchayats in Karur district have been chosen for extending benefits under the Centrally-sponsored Rural Employment Guarantee scheme for the current year, according to Collector T.N. Venkatesh.
Mr. Venkatesh said here that efforts would be taken to showcase the village panchayats selected under the scheme as role models.
The panchayats chosen were Attur Poolampalayam and Vettamangalam in Karur Panchayat Union, Mookanankurichi and Manavadi in Thanthoni Union, Sendamangalam (East) and Esanatham in Aravakurichi Union, Punjakalikurichi and Anaipalayam panchayats in K. Paramathi Union, Nallur and Sathyamangalama in Kulithalai Unions.
Similarly, Veeriyapalayam and Sithalavai in Krishnarayapuram Union, Mullipadi and Keeranur in Kadavur Union, Porundalur and Thogamalai in Thogamalai unions have also been selected for implementation of the employment guarantee scheme in the district, he added.
In each of the panchayats, one member in every family would be provided job opportunities for manual work for at least 100 days in a year under the scheme.
Those who want to benefit from the scheme could contact the respective panchayat presidents the block development officer for registering their names, the Collector has said.
