KOCHI: Tax payers blamed it on the complicated forms for the delay in filing income tax returns. On the closing day for filing the returns for individual tax payers, long lines were formed at Income Tax offices here from the morning on Tuesday. The I-T Department had set up special counters and facilitation centres to help the tax payers tackle the forms. Confused and irritated by the forms, those queuing up said the ‘Saral’ forms which had been in use for some years were so much easier to use. I-T officials said that because of the complicated return forms, the filings were tardy and fewer than last year’s. So far, 3.10 lakh individual taxpayers, companies and Hindu undivided families have filed their returns in the State.
