Srikrishna report gathering dust: CPI(M)

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Expressing concern over non-implementation of the Justice Srikrishna Commission report, Communist Party of India (Marxist) MP Hannan Mollah on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to ensure that justice was not denied to the victims of “one of the worst communal riots in the history of our country.”

Though the report on the 1993 riots was tabled nine years ago, the Congress-led Government of Maharashtra was “sleeping over” it.

“The cause and effect relationship between the Mumbai riots following the demolition of the Babri Masjid in December 1992 and the blasts that took place in March 1993 was established more than adequately by the Commission report,” he said in a letter to Dr. Singh.

The Commission, he said, specifically mentioned a series of names of leaders of the Shiv Sena, the BJP and even the Congress and sought to know whether any sensible person could fail to draw a correct conclusion about the action that should have followed its findings.
