Nanchil Kumaran posted Chennai Police Commissioner

Nanchil Kumaran
CHENNAI: G. Nanchil Kumaran, an Additional Director-General of Police (ADGP), is the new Commissioner of Chennai Police.
He succeeds Letika Saran, his IPS batchmate, who has been posted as ADGP, Administration, Chennai. Ms.Saran took over as Commissioner in April 2006.
A 1976 batch IPS officer, Mr.Kumaran had been heading the State police’s intelligence wing since June last year.
No officer has been posted in his place.
As per the official communication issued on Wednesday, K. Ramanujam, who was hitherto ADGP, Administration, Chennai and Member-Secretary, Tamil Nadu Third Police Commission, Chennai, would continue to be the full-time Member Secretary of the Commission.
Mr. Kumaran is expected to take charge on Thursday.
