Water released from KRP dam

Krishnagiri: Water was released from the Krishnagiri Reservoir Project on Wednesday to Barur tank in Pochampalli taluk for irrigation. About 4,739 acres in Barur and surrounding villages will be benefited through the release.

According to official sources, water is expected to be released from the Barur tank for the first crop on August 2.

A total of 3212.87 acres in the villages of Barur, Kilkuppam, Pendarahalli, Kottapatti, Jingalkadirampatti, and Dadampatti will be benefited through the release from the East main canal.

Similarly, a total of 1,516.38 acres in the villages of Barur, Kilkuppam, Arasampatti and Pendarahalli will be benefited through the release from the West main canal.

The water level in the Krishnagiri dam has touched 46.10 feet as against 52 feet thanks to the recent rains. Now the inflow into the project dam is 280 cusecs and is likely to increase over the next few days say sources.
