Monsoon vigorous in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Rayalaseema and Kerala, at many places over Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka and south interior Karnataka and at a few places over coastal Andhra Praeesh, Telangana and Lakshadweep. Isolated rainfall occurred over north interior Karnataka.

The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in centimetres: Lalgudi (Tiruchirapalli dt.), Redhills (Thiruvallur dt.) and Atmakur (Karimnagar dt.) 11 each.

FORECAST (valid until Friday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely at most places over coastal Karnataka and Kerala, at many places over interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and at a few places over Lakshadweep, north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangala.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING: Isolated heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur over coastal Karnataka during the next 48 hours. Isolated heavy rain is also likely to occur over south interior Karnataka, Kerala, north coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during the same period.
