Brahm Dutt is Road Transport Secretary

NEW DELHI: Brahm Dutt, a 1973-batch IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre, took over on Wednesday as the Secretary, Road Transport and Highways in the Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways. He succeeds Vijay Singh, who has become Defence Secretary.

Till recently, Mr. Dutt was Chairman of the National Authority, Chemicals Weapons Convention, in the Cabinet Secretariat. He had been Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Industry from 1994 to 1999 and later as Special Secretary / Additional Secretary, in the Department of Personnel and Training from September 2005 to January 2007.

Mr. Dutt had been Commercial Counsellor and Financial Advisor at the Indian Embassy in Washington. He was also CMD of Mysore Paper Mills.
