Power body plans social audit

Special Correspondent

To renovate 2,250 feeders at a cost of Rs.1,286 crore

Special teams formed in all seven circles of the Corporation

JAIPUR: Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam (JVVN), one of the corporations established in the State after unbundling the Rajasthan State Electricity Board (RSEB) a few years back, has announced its decision to hold a social audit on its much publicised feeder renovation programme (FRP). JVVN is the first public sector enterprise in Rajasthan to initiate a social audit.

JVVN has taken up the renovation of 2,250 feeders at an estimated expense of Rs.1,286 crore. All over the State the target is to improve as many as 8,475 rural feeders at a cost of Rs.4,400 crore.

JVVN chairman and managing director R. G. Gupta said special audit teams had been constituted in all seven circles under the corporation. The sarpanch of the concerned gram panchayat as well as the representatives of the active trade unions in the circle would participate in the audit, he informed.

“The suggestion on holding a social audit on FRP came during a discussion with the members of the workers unions some time back,” Mr. Gupta noted. An executive engineer level official would be the coordinator for each of the teams constituted for the audit, he said. The sarpanch, trade union representative and the feeder manager of the circle would be the members of the team.

The teams also would regularly examine the FRP and the quality of the work undertaken prior to submitting their reports to the respective executive engineers concerned by the fifth of each month.
