Krishna water from August 8

Hyderabad: Water will be released from the Telugu Ganga canal to Chennai city on August 8.

A decision was taken by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy here on Wednesday to provide at least 3 tmcft of water to the city this year in fulfilment of an inter-state commitment. The shutters of the Kandaleru reservoir in Nellore district would be opened on August 3. Initially, about 1,000 cusecs would be released into the canal.
