Howard defends Andrews’ action
Melbourne: Australian Prime Minister John Howard on Wednesday said that Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews’ release of selected police material against Mohammed Haneef partly vindicated his decision to revoke the Indian doctor’s visa.
Mr. Howard said Mr. Andrews’ explanation had been “full and complete.”
“He [Mr. Andrews] has been unfairly criticised but he has, to some extent, been vindicated by it being possible to make some of this information available,” the Prime Minister said.
“But there will be some people who will continue to attack him.” — PTI
