S. Suresh Kumar, Joint Collector and licensing authority for theatres : Most of the theatres in the city have come up before the new building rules came into force. Though renovations and modifications are taken up, there is a mismatch between the viewers’ aspirations about comfort and existing facilities. Certainly, people want a near-IMAX experience, but local theatres have to change a lot. One or two multiplexes are coming up now. We will certainly take serious action if violations are found in the case of older theatres in the matters of structural safety, parking and fire safety.
