Canara Bank pays dividend

BANGALORE: Canara Bank, a major public sector bank, has reached an aggregate global business of Rs. 2,40,887 crore as on March 31, 2007 to retain its number one position. In keeping with its tradition of making profits every year since inception, the bank has recorded a net profit of Rs. 1,420.81 crore. A cheque for Rs. 210 crore was handed over to the Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram by bank’s Chairman and Managing Director M.B.N. Rao on Wednesday in New Delhi.
