‘Positively pregnant’

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Prenatal classes are becoming an integral part of the regime for pregnant women.

They are now considered to be an effective way to learn about pregnancy and child care and boost confidence levels, help de-stress, reduce perceptions of pain and thereby help with a better child birth experience.

‘Positively Pregnant’ does just that.

Techniques

Organised by the Asha Medical Foundation, a non- profit organisation, these classes teach techniques to deal with labour pains and delivery. It also informs women about the right diet and exercise regimes during pregnancy.

Lamaze breathing

This includes Lamaze breathing and relaxation techniques, prenatal exercises and comfort measures for labour and delivery, maternal nutrition, infant care, post natal exercises and maternal care. The classes will be in an interactive support-group setting.

The classes, conducted every Saturday, between 10 a.m. and 1p.m. will be held until August 18, at the Asha Medical Foundation, 1134, 2nd Floor, 100 Feet Road, HAL 2nd Stage.
