PUDUCHERRY: The administration will resume the free rice scheme from July, but will restrict the provision to below-poverty-line families, having red colour ration card, said Chief Minister N. Rangasamy said on Thursday. The rice for the month of July could be purchased from ration shops from August 3 to 15, and for August, till this month-end. The scheme would benefit 1.37 lakh BPL families, he said. He also said that Rs. 2.8 crore had been allocated for assistance to students under a scheme announced in the last budget and the money would be disbursed from August 10. — Staff Reporter
