Chennai Port Trust surpasses target

CHENNAI: Chennai Port Trust handled 18.84 million tonnes of cargo in the first four months of this year, surpassing the target for this year.

According to a press release, the Port handled 5.162 million tonnes of cargo in July, surpassing the record of 5.07 million tonnes in March.

On the container front too, its performance in July surpassed the record set in June 2007.

Port Chairman K. Suresh thanked the employees and trade union leaders for their contribution in the record performance. — Special Correspondent
