Cycle rally to mark Scouts centenary

creating awareness: Southern Railway Bharat Scouts and Guides taking out a cycle rally from Perambur to mark the centenary celebrations of the Scouts Movement, in Chennai on Wednesday.

CHENNAI: A bicycle rally by members of the Southern Railway Bharat Scouts and Guides was flagged off here on Wednesday.

Over 100 scouts and guides are participating in the rally to mark the centenary celebrations of the Scouts Movement.

Flagged off by Southern Railway Additional General Manager A.P. Mishra, it will pass through Bangalore, Mysore, Palghat, Madurai, Tiruchi and Puducherry, covering about 1,600 km.

Besides spreading the message of the Scouts Movement, the cyclists will create awareness among the public of the environment, AIDS, mother and child care, oral rehydration therapy, tuberculosis and leprosy.

Senior Deputy General Manager V. Carmelus participated.
