Dubai should be an inspiration State is number one in Ayurveda
KOCHI: Kerala should learn from Dubai, Hong Kong and South Africa that have built up brand images of their own, said Alex Kuruvilla, an entrepreneur, known for brand building of several entities including MTV. Mr. Kuruvilla was speaking at a function on Wednesday organised by The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE), an organisation focusing on entrepreneurship and associated issues. The development of Dubai from a fishing village to a port city and beyond should be an inspiration to build up a brand image for Kerala. Similarly, the success stories of Hong Kong and South Africa should guide the people. Hong Kong could emerge to the status of a modern international city due to the brand building exercise. South Africa has attracted huge international investments thanks to a deliberate effort to focus on its strengths. In a survey conducted by him among the youth in Maharashtra to test the awareness of the strengths of Kerala, it was found that the State attained top slot in Ayurveda. Education and tourism were other sectors that Kerala had advantages in. Mr. Kuruvilla said that the services of Keralites who had made their mark in various fields could be utilised for building up a brand image for the State. He advocated policies targeted at the youth, adding that about 550 million Indians are under the age of 25.
