Growing demand for multimedia professionals

Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM: Programme coordinator of British Columbia Institute of Technology (Canada) Russel Hemem has said that 20 lakh multimedia professionals will be required in the country during the next 10 years.

Addressing the participants of a seminar on ‘Digital animation’ organised by Xplora Design Skool here on Thursday, he said that the future belonged to students who completed digital animation courses. There was a wide gap between the demand and supply of multimedia professionals. Director of Xplora Design Skool (Ahmedabad) Rohit Swaroop said that the institute was offering multimedia training to 4,500 students through its 107 centres all over the country. Candidates who successfully complete the course could earn between Rs.6,000 to Rs.10,000 a month in the initial stages of their career. The institute’s Vizag centre director T. Satish Reddy said that the intake was 30 students for the centre. College students could also join the course.

Xplora offers two career programmes – PG Diploma in multimedia and comprehensive multimedia programme (for non graduates). The institute offers 100 per cent placement.
