Phoney stuff: Fake models of high end phones seized on Thursday.
HYDERABAD: A Nokia N-series phone for Rs.2,000? That seems an offer to grab at once.
But think twice, the stranger coming to you with this tempting offer in all possibility could be a trickster and pass on a toy phone looking like a genuine one.
At least that is how three youngsters from Uttar Pradesh had allegedly taken some 90 persons for a ride by offering them higher-end Nokia phones at rock bottom prices and passing on ‘dummy’ phones instead.
The accused youngsters, Amjad, Afsar and Munna, hailing from Pasaunda village in Ghaziabad district, were arrested at Secunderabad railway station on Thursday, Task Force DCP V.B. Kamalasan Reddy told reporters here on Thursday.
Throwaway price
They used to approach individuals at crowded places and offer to sell the phones at throwaway prices saying they had run short of money during their trip to the city.
“The trio bought two Nokia N-series original phones and showed the same to prospective buyers,” Mr. Reddy explained.
