ACB arrests deputy chief engineer

HYDERABAD: Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Thursday arrested a Deputy Chief Engineer of Irrigation Department, M. Satti Reddy, working in the office of the Engineer-in-Chief here on charge of amassing wealth illegally.

Searches at his office, his residence and houses of his relatives revealed that he procured properties worth over Rs. 1.90 crore that were disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Documents suggesting that he owned three-floor house in a plot admeasuring 800 square yards at MLA Colony, Banjara Hills, another two-floor house at Vidyanagar and investments to the tune of Rs 98.10 lakh in 4.5 acres of land on city outskirts were seized.

Huge investments

Other assets included nine house sites in and around city, investments of Rs. 18 lakh in Radan Power Project and bank balances of Rs. 8.22 lakh.

The arrested engineer would be produced before a special court.
