Limited, Taiwan, is investing $3 million in Kolhapur District in Maharashtra to establish an assembling unit initially for auto-leveller drawframes and cardings for textile spinning units. The company is part of a consortium of about ten Taiwanese textile machinery and component manufacturing units that plan to have marketing and servicing facilities in India. Nick Yang, its Managing Director, told The Hindu here on Tuesday that the company had purchased six acres and a 2,000 sq. m. building was nearing completion. Taiwan was strong in electronic hardware. Some of the components would be imported and the machinery assembled in India. The consortium at present had an annual turnover of $150 million. The members manufactured open-end spinning spares, waste recycling machine, socks knitting machine, circular knitting machinery, retrofits, blowroom line, humidification and energy management systems. The main markets were in the South and Southeast Asian countries Dogetech Industrial Company was also considering an investment in Coimbatore and was on the look out for land, added S.
