BANGALORE: A 12-year-old boy was drowned after he fell into a 25-foot deep quarry pit in Deevarajeevanhalli police station limits on Wednesday evening. The police gave his name as Pandiyan, a fifth standard student and son of plumber Ramesh. On Wednesday evening, Pandiyan was playing with his friends near the abandoned quarry behind the Murugan temple at Doddannanagar in Kavalbyarasandra. He lost balance and slipped into the pit, the police said. The Fire and Emergency Service personnel removed Pandiyan’s body from the pit on Thursday morning. Three persons, including a nursing student, committed suicide in the city since Wednesday night. Sunil Kumar Mishra (30), a private company employee and a native of Orissa, committed suicide by throwing himself in front of a moving train in Byappanahalli railway police station limits on Thursday morning. The police said Mishra’s body was found near Marathahalli Bridge on Bangalore-Salem tracks. In another incident, a student nurse, committed suicide by hanging herself at her college hostel in Sahakaranagar on Wednesday night. The police gave her name as Dhanya (25), a native of Kottayam in Kerala. She was depressed as she was reportedly suffering from a heart ailment, the police said. The Yelahanka police registered a case. Chitti Babu (46) committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Kodigenahalli in Kadugodi police station limits on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday night. As Babu was an alcoholic, his brother Manohar had got him admitted in a de-addiction and rehabilitation centre. Babu escaped, came home and ended his life, the police said. The Bharathinagar police have recovered six two-wheelers, all worth Rs. 75,000, by arresting Mohammed Yasin (19) of Yeshwanthapur on charges of vehicle theft. Using fake keys, Yasin had stolen the vehicles that were parked in front of houses in Yeshwanthapur and Bharathinagar police station limits, the police said.
