Scribes protest against foisting of cases

Staff Reporter

NELLORE: Hundreds of journalists in the district staged a demonstration here on Friday protesting against ‘false’ criminal cases being foisted against some reporters.

To sport black badges

Sporting black badges, they shouted slogans against a senior official of Indira Kranti Pathakam (IKP) and some woman self-help group members, who were allegedly behind the attack on the office of a popular Telugu daily besides foisting cases against some reporters.

“All journalists will sport black badges while covering all Government and Congress party programmes till the false cases against some reporters are dropped,” Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) district president P. Rajasekhar said.

Meanwhile leaders from several political parties expressed their solidarity with the journalists. Nellore MLA Anam Vivekanda Reddy, BJP senior leader S. Suresh Reddy, TDP senior leader Kotamreddy Sridhara Krishna Reddy and others also took part in the dharna.
